  How to cook BuiltBurgers?

Grilling and BBQ Ideas

Begin with defrosting your gourmet burgers from BuiltBurger. Keep them frozen until about 24 hours before you plan to cook them. Ideally, defrost in the refrigerator. In a pinch, remove the butcher paper and place individually wrapped flavors in a bowl of cool water to speed up defrosting.

Take a minute to review the cooking and grilling tips below. These tips and ideas represent our many experiences that went into creating the BuiltBurger brand and products.

Grilling Instructions - Outdoor BBQ:
1. First, prepare your bbq or grill. This is the most important step.

GAS: Ignite grill and keep lid closed for at least 15 minutes while the grill surface gets hot. Ideally, reach a temperature of 350+ degrees. Open lid and lower heat to medium.

CHARCOAL or WOOD: Once coals/chips are nice and hot, keep lid closed for 15 minutes. Open lid and wait 10 minutes before placing BuiltBurgers on grill surface.

For both, a nice bonus is to apply a bit of olive oil to the grill surface. Use a rumpled up paper towel with about a tablespoon of olive oil.

2. Place BuiltBurgers on grill.

Our all-natural meats should be cooked gently. Cook approx. 5-7 minutes per side. If the external air temperature is above 60 degrees, keep grill lid open. If below 60 degrees, you may close lid, but cooking times may be shortened, so monitor frequently.

Try not to press down on Builts with a spatula. It's a good idea to turn only once if you can.

3. Remove BuiltBurgers from grill.

Place on serving platter and allow BuiltBurgers to rest for 3-5 minutes.

Place on bun and apply recommended toppings and enjoy.

Grilling Instructions - Indoors (Seared in the Pan, Finished in the Oven):
You don't have to BBQ to enjoy a burger. BuiltBurgers are a year-round gourmet meal. Therefore, they can be cooked indoors with great results if you follow these simple steps.

1. First, prepare a cast iron skillet or a good skillet (don't use non-stick) and the oven.

Heat skillet on hot for approximately 5 minutes and lower heat to medium.

At the same time, warm-up oven by setting it on "Broil - High". If oven has different broil settings, after 10 minutes, change to "Broil - Low"

2. Place BuiltBurgers in pan to sear.

Sear both sides approx. 2 minutes on each side.

3. Place pan with seared BuiltBurgers into oven on middle rack setting (avoid using top rack setting)

"Broil - Low" for approximately 7-10 minutes; if low setting is unavailable, cooking time will be shortened, so monitor carefully

4. Remove BuiltBurgers from pan.

Place on serving platter and allow BuiltBurgers to rest for 3-5 minutes.

Place on bun and apply recommended toppings and enjoy.

  Toppings Suggestions by BuiltBurger.  The suggested recipes below are intended for anyone to make at home.  The flavors perfectly compliment the BuiltBurgers they are paired with.  Give them a try and don't forget to keep providing us suggestions.

 

MARVELOUS MUSHROOM - Mushroom

Relish

yield: 4-6 toppings or two sides

 

2 T.   olive oil

1 T.   shallot, minced

1 t.   garlic, minced

2 C.   mushrooms, diced (any type(s))

1/4 C. white wine

1/3 C. chevre cheese

2 t.   fresh thyme, chopped

1/2 C. arugula, chiffonade (cut into long thin strips)

 

1.       heat oil in skillet over med. high heat

2.       add shallot and garlic, saute up to 1 min

3.       add mushrooms before garlic gets golden brown, stir

4.       as garlic turns golden, add wine and reduce over med low heat

5.       once mushrooms are finished cooking, remove from heat and fold in remaining ingredients

6.       season with salt and pepper to taste

 

MAGNIFICENT CHORIZO - Apple Jicama Slaw

yield: 4-6 toppings or 2 sides

 

1/2 C. apple, julienne

1/2 C. jicama, julienne

2 T.   cilantro

2 T.   lime juice

1 T.   orange juice

1/4 C. olive oil

 

1.       add all ingredients in bowl and incorporate together

2.       season with salt and pepper to taste

 

BRILLIANT PROSCUITTO - Artichoke Relish

yield: 4-6 toppings or 2 sides

 

1 C.   artichoke hearts, diced

1/4 C. roasted garlic, rough chop

1 T.   shallot, minced

2 T.   parsley, fresh

2 T.   sherry vinegar

3 T.   olive oil

 

1.       add all ingredients in bowl and incorporate together

2.       season with salt and pepper to taste

 

TRAILBLAZER MELT - Orange Braised Cabbage

yield: 4-6 toppings or 2 sides

 

2 T.   olive oil

1/2 C. onion, julienne

1.5 C. red cabbage, thinly sliced

1/2 C. orange juice

1 t.   caraway seed, ground

 

1.       heat oil in skillet over medium heat

2.       add onion, cook until translucent

3.       add cabbage, stir occasionally

4.       add juice and caraway, reduce juice to almost dry

5.       season with salt and pepper to taste

 

SUPREME PASTRAMI - Chou Chou

yield: 4-6 toppings

 

1/2 C. dill pickles, diced

1/2 C. pickled peppers, sliced (Mama Lil's sweet hot or peppercinis)

1/4 C. favorite mustard, preferably dijon

 

add all ingredients in bowl and incorporate together
 

DELIGHTFUL POTSTICKER - Potsticker Sauce

yield: 1/2 cup

 

1/4 C. ponzu or soy sauce

1 t.   shallot, minced

1 t.   garlic, minced

1 t.   ginger, minced

2 T.   sweet chili sauce

1 t.   sesame oil (optional)

 

  1. add all ingredients in bowl add incorporate together
 

UTOPIA CHICKEN - Lime Slaw

yield 4-6 topping or 2 sides

 

1 C.   green cabbage, thinly sliced

2 T.   lime juice

2 T.   red onion, julienne

2 T.   carrot, grated

3 T.   olive oil

2 T.   lime juice

1 T.   cilantro

 

1.       incorporate all ingredients and incorporate together

2.       season to taste with salt and pepper to taste

 

THRILL BBQ PORK - Old Bay Slaw

yield 4-6 toppings or 2 sides

 

1 C.   green cabbage, thinly sliced

2 T.   red onion, julienne

2 T.   carrot, grated

3 T.   mayonnaise

2 t.   Old Bay seasoning

 

  1. incorporate all ingredients together
  2. season to taste with salt and pepper
 

GIVE THANKS TURKEY - Cranberry Relish

yield: 4-6 toppings or 2 sides

 

2 T.   olive oil

2 T.   red onion, small dice

1 C.   cranberries, fresh or frozen

1/2 C. orange juice

1 T.   parsley, fresh

1 t.   sage

 

1.       heat oil in skillet over medium heat

2.       add onion, saute until slightly translucent

3.       add cranberries, cook 2 min.

4.       add orange juice, reduce until almost dry

5.       add parsley and sage

6.       season to taste with salt and pepper

 

HEAVENLY LAMB - Homemade Hummus

yield: 1 1/2 C.

 

1 T.   garlic (approx 2-3 cloves)

1 can garbanzo beans (aka chick peas)

1      lemon, juiced

1 T.   tahini

2 T.   parsley and/or cilantro

1 t.   cumin

1/4 C. olive oil

       water (optional)

 

1.       in food processor, mince garlic

2.       add garbanzo beans, puree

3.       add everything else

4.       add water to smooth (optional, start w/ 1 T. at a time)

season to taste with salt and pepper

  Traveling the globe for appealing flavors is always on our burger bucket list.  This one is no exception in that we wanted to capture the familier, yet exotic flavors of panang thai curry in a burger.  See for yourself.

Built Take:   First, the meat.  Fresh ground all natural pork shoulder.  Next, the integration of classic panang flavors - coconut milk, thai curry paste, snow peas, carrots, cilantro, ginger and a touch of pineapple.  Sublime flavor and perfect sans bun.

  We get inspired by the right beer and wine that when paired with different Built flavors, it's sheer eating pleasure.  We started tinkering with wine as a burger enhancer and here the debut.

Built Take:   Simplicity and the right combination are often the most memorable flavors, right?   Try this combo:  Italian Marsala wine, fresh mushrooms, garlic, shallots and a nice dose of butter all blend together for a seriously savory taste profile.
